Hi! I’m Emily.

I grew up in the Midwest and attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, with a focus in Magazine journalism. During school, I spent my journalism residency at Texas Monthly magazine in Austin, Texas. I learned about the art of long-form journalism and Texas barbecue.

After graduating in 2012, I kicked off my official journalism career with Rodale at Men's Health magazine in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. I was hired as a 6-month Editorial Intern, and the opportunity launched a wild ride through the world of publishing.

From there, I was hired by SUCCESS magazine as a Social Media and Web Editorial Assistant, and moved to a small suburb outside Dallas, Texas. (Shoutout to Flower Mound!) A year later, I was back in Pennsylvania and working full-time as a Junior Digital Web Producer for Men's Health, this time on the digital side for MensHealth.com. The role brought me to fellow Rodale publication Prevention magazine, where I was brought on to produce for Prevention.com, as well as help launch a new site called EatClean.com. (Although it's since folded, I fully enjoyed learning about all things kombucha and camel's milk.)

After nearly 5 years in publishing, I decided to take a role outside magazines in healthcare as a Web Communication/Production Specialist in the Marketing and Communications Department at Lehigh Valley Health Network. And in 2019, I began a full-time freelance writing career as a lifestyle writer. Since then, my work has been published by PEOPLERunner's WorldWomen's HealthSHAPEBicyclingParentsSELF and more.

I now live in Charleston, South Carolina. When I am not writing, I love to get my body moving with barre, running, dancing, surfing and playing tennis. My dachshund Gertrude is never far from my side. I've never met a thrift shop or antique mall I didn't like, and I am always on the hunt for art and vintage clothes (as well as the perfect peach lusterware set.) If it has anything to do with fashion, culture, and history, count me in.

Thanks for your interest!
